Like-for-like sales of clothing and homeware at Marks & Spencer fell 0.4% in the 13 weeks ended in June, which the company’s chief executive partly attributed to weaker demand for summer clothes during May as a result of colder weather.
Sales made via the company’s website rose 38.7%.
Underlying sales of food rose 0.3%, while total food sales were up 3.2%, reflecting an increase in the number of the company’s Simply Food outlets.
