Sales of homes to first-time buyers hit record high

Sales of homes to first-time buyers rose by 9% on the month in October, figures from the National Association of Estate Agents show.

The number is the highest since the NAEA first started compiling the figures in 2000.

The increase could be due to houses appearing more affordable as price growth slows, NAEA managing director Mark Hayward said, adding that competition from landlords interested in similar properties had eased.
