The former chief executive of Land Securities has been appointed to help Transport for London deliver more than 10m sq ft of new developments.
Redevelopment guru Francis Salway, who stepped down from the REIT in 2012, has been appointed chairman to a new non-executive property advisory group that is being assembled by TfL’s director of commercial development Graeme Craig.
The appointment comes in the same week that the transport giant and the mayor of London announced the start of a search for a developer framework panel to aid 50 new redevelopments.
Around six partners will be sought by the end of 2015 for the panel. It will compete for sites that have scope for around 9,000 homes, shops and offices.
Steve Allen, managing director of finance at TfL, said: “He [Salway] is one of the most respected people in commercial property and will bring a wealth of practical experience to TfL.”
Salway’s legacy from his eight years in charge at LandSec included overseeing the development of 8m sq ft of projects, including the City’s first shopping centre, One New Change, EC4.
TfL also wants to bolster its real estate team and is recruiting for a property development director, commercial asset management director and head of property management.
