Samsung “puts on hold” plans for 748,385 sq ft Brentford development (07:30 GMT)

Samsung last night confirmed that it has put on hold its proposed 69,525 sq m (748,385 sq ft) Brentford office development.

The company had planned to develop the offices from scratch on land which it owns opposite its current headquarters on the Great West Road.

The idea was to house its entire European corporate level staff who are currently dotted around the south east by 2000.

A spokesman for Samsung said that the office development “is not cancelled. It’s on hold for at least a year.”

Earlier this month, Samsung abandoned a £450m microchip investment on Teesside, blaming economic volatility in South Korea.
