Sara Lee’s low bid for Courtaulds are signs of UK’s textile sectordeclining

Colin Dyer, chief executive of Courtaulds Textiles, will launch a robust defence against US group Sara Lee’s hostile bid at a meeting tomorrow.

Dyer will outline plans to shift more the company’s 22,000 workforce into low-cost areas overseas. Around 50% of Courtaulds employees work in the UK.

Dyer says Courtaulds shareholders are 2being robbed” on Sara Lee’s current100p-a-share offer.
