Savills hires Allsop’s Hodge for auctions team

Savills has hired Ben Hodge, a commercial auctions specialist from Allsop, as a director in its own auctions business.

Hodge will join former Allsop colleague Gary Murphy, who moved to Savills last summer. In his new role, Hodge will work on business across all price-points, with a particular focus on larger portfolios that offer high-yield opportunities and long-term value for investors and developers.

Savills’ auction team raised over £400m in the first half of 2024, a 50% increase from the same period last year.

Hodge described the growth of the department as “phenomenal”, adding: “Their approach to auctions with live-streaming has opened bidding up to all users, not just online but telephone and proxy too. This is of huge advantage to buyers and sellers alike.”

Robin Howeson, head of Savills’ auctions division, said: “Ben brings over a decade’s worth of experience having operated solely in the commercial arena. His specialism will be a highly valuable asset to the business and a driving force for commercial assets across all price points.”
