Savills has opened its first office in Aberdeen to capitalise on the city’s healthy residential and energy sectors.
Ewan Berkeley, who has been advising Savills clients in the north east of Scotland for 34 years, will head up the office and oversee specialists in consultancy, cross-sector agency, development, energy, investment, lease consultancy, management, planning and valuations.
The office, in the West End of Aberdeen, was announced at the annual Scottish Property Outlook seminar held in the city.
Other recruits to the Savills Aberdeen team include Tom Chetwynd, who joins as an associate director in the rural team from Bowlts Chartered Surveyors, and Fiona Gormley, previously at Simpson Marwick, who joins as a director in the residential team.
Savills UK and Europe chief executive Mark Ridley said: “Savills already has a comprehensive service offering throughout Scotland and has a substantial client base in the Aberdeen area. Introducing a local team in Aberdeen will further strengthen our presence in the region and this expansion marks another important step for the firm as we continue to strive to offer the best-in-class service in the UK and worldwide.”
Berkeley added: “At the centre of Europe’s oil and gas industry, Aberdeen has demonstrated resilience to the recession and continues to offer opportunities for future growth. The city, and the areas that surround it, are regarded as leading places in the country to both live and work. We look forward to building on this with our existing team across Scotland, and our new recruits who bring considerable local market knowledge.”
Savills research shows residential prices and sales in the Aberdeen area are 25% and 4% higher respectively than the 10-year annual average.
