Savills sale breaks September record

No.1 the Thames sold above its £159,000 guide

Savills raised more than £36m at its auction yesterday, bringing the amount raised from its two September sales to more than £85m.

This figure is more than double the amount (£40m) raised in September 2022 from double the number of property sales.

Yesterday’s auction was its 10th this year and saw a 71% success rate from the sale of 108 lots. Savills has raised more than £386m from the sale of 1,100 lots via its live-streamed property auctions so far this year.

Highlights from the latest sale included an iconic No. 1 the Thames address in Kent which sold above guide for £159,000, a mixed-use property in Worcester Park, Surrey, which sold for £1.18m, significantly over its £750,000 guide price, and a substantial office building in Hastings which sold for £1.1m.

A former warehouse/factory building in Hackney, E1, sold on guide price for £1.95m, as did a residential investment in a former school building in Plymouth, which sold for £1m

Residential highlights included two flats in Battersea, SW11, which sold above guide for £1.12m and houses in Twickenham and Bristo,l which both sold prior to the sale for close to £1m each.

Savills Auctions director Jeremy Lamb said: “Year-to-date we have sold 50% more lots than last year, making September 2023 our biggest ever both by volume and amount raised, with almost 500 lots between the two September catalogues.”

Savills has four auctions remaining in 2023. The next auction takes place on 10 October.
