US investor and developer Scannell Properties has hired a senior pair from Amazon to lead a build-to-suit industrial real estate platform.
Amazon’s former director and head of EMEA real estate Nick Deeks will lead the new company, called Scannell International.
Deeks previously joined Amazon in 2016. Before that, he was director of international real estate at Costco Wholesale.
Chris Davies, formerly head of EU for Amazon’s logistics real estate operations, will join Deeks’s team.
Davies has led Amazon’s European last mile real estate requirements for the last four years.
Scannell International will operate initially across Europe, with its head office based in London.
Robert Scannell, founder and chief executive of Scannell Properties, said the launch of its new division “reflects Scannell’s confidence in the European market”.
Founded in 1990, Scannell Properties is a privately-owned real estate development and investment company that focuses on build-to-suit and speculative development of industrial, office, government, and multi-family facilities throughout the US and Canada.
In 2018, Scannell Properties expanded its industrial development operations into Europe with an office in London, Paris, Milan and Dusseldorf, focusing on the core markets of France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK.
It has so far completed 328 development projects totalling 63,600,000 sq ft.
