A school in Somerset has rejected plans for its rebuild, saying the lack of renewable energy and building materials were a ‘betrayal’.
The 880-pupil Kingsmead school in Wiveliscombe, Taunton, is one of more than 500 schools being rebuilt or refurbished as part of the government’s £4.3bn priority schools building programme.
However, the Department for Education’s recommended designs do not include renewable energy technology or a focus on ‘green’ materials.
