Scope seeks to expand London store footprint

Disability equality charity Scope is looking to open six new stores within Greater London, citing increasing customer demand.

Carter Jonas, the charity’s retained property adviser, has been instructed to find spaces in high streets or shopping centre locations measuring 1,600 to 2,500 sq ft, with 100% access for disabled customers.

Target locations include Bexley, Clapham, Fulham, Finchley, Edmonton, Tottenham and Wandsworth.

Spaces would ideally offer parking nearby for customers and deliveries, and benefit from high footfall.

The charity operates 170 stores in England and Wales.

Stuart Williams, partner, commercial at Carter Jonas, said the ongoing economic climate has resulted in more new shoppers.

Williams added: “Scope stores are an asset to the community, and the opportunity to work with the charity should appeal to many landlords looking to secure a strong covenant with an established and successful brand.”

Scope appointed Carter Jonas as its estate adviser in 2019. The agent advises the charity on management, strategy, planning and building consultancy services, as well as support on all property transactions, including acquisitions and disposals, lease renewals and rent reviews.
