Sheikh Mohamed Bin Issa Al Jaber has bought Scotsman Hotel Group, the firm he previously ran, out of administration through his hotels & resorts arm JJW Group.
The portfolio includes the five-star Scotsman Hotel in Edinburgh, the boutique 42 The Calls in Leeds and the deluxe Hotel de la Trémoille in Paris.
The all-equity deal was completed for an undisclosed sum on December 14.
The Scotsman Hotel Group hotels will be subjected to a $100m (£64m) additional investment in 2012.
Lloyds Banking Group, lender to the Scotsman Hotel Group, appointed KPMG to handle the administration in November. The group was part of the JJW Hotels & Resorts group, whose Eton Group was placed into administration in August 2010.
A spokesman for the group said: “Sheikh Mohamed is delighted to be able to announce the Scotsman Group is now fully back in his family of companies.”
“There are major, exciting investment plans for hotels in the group over the course of next year.
