Scottish house prices rise higher than expected

House prices in Scotland are predicted to rise even further than expected, hitting an average of £246,000 by 2027.

The Scottish Fiscal Commission, which provides independent forecasts, said in January that the average cost of a house would be £214,000 in 2025-26.

It has revised its estimates upwards amid strong demand and an expectation that wages will rise by 3-5% annually over the coming years.

The SFC said the average house cost £201,000 in the 12 months to the end of March, a 7.5% increase from the £187,000 recorded in the previous year.
