Architect Frank Whittle Partnership has unveiled its plans for a stadium for League Two side Scunthorpe United.

The 12,000-seat stadium, to be known as the Iron Arena, is part of a £40m out-of-town sports and leisure project that includes a 120-bed hotel and a prospective new rail hub.

David Robinson, managing partner of FWP, which has offices in Preston, Manchester and London, said: “We have worked very hard to create a vibrant and modern development that will be a real asset to the community and the local economy.

“The proposed masterplan we have created for Scunthorpe United aims to provide a real destination venue for sport, leisure and entertainment for the local community. The football stadium we are proposing is really special and the design, with its sweeping curves, is striking.”
