SDL Auctions Graham Penny offers country pile

A grand country home and courtyard building with permission for conversion into 24 luxury flats is on offer at SDL Auctions Graham Penny’s next Leicester sale on 14 June.

Ranks borough Hall (pictured), in the village of Langham, near the market town of Oakham in Leicestershire, is being offered long leasehold with a guide price of £1.8m-plus. It was built in 1839 for Lord Ranksborough, who at the time was equerry to Queen Victoria. Eight of the apartments have already been converted, 14 require conversion and finishing works and two have been sold on long leaseholds, meaning 22 are being offered.

Another high-value lot is a four-storey villa in Coventry with 36 furnished student bedrooms. It is let for the 2017-18 academic year at an annual rent of £163,000, with scope for an increase to £180,000.

The property is owned by Coventry University and has a guide price of £1m-plus.

The auction will take place at the King Power Stadium.
