Seagate Technology is putting its semiconductor plant at Livingston, near Edinburgh, Scotland, up for sale.
It said it was no longer financially prudent to keep it operating. It wants to find a buyer in as short a time as possible. It expects the plants future to be resolved before the end of the year. The facility will close if no buyer is found.
It comes not long after the company announced a $40m programme to upgrade and expand the Livingston plant last March.
