The slowdown in Britain’s secondhand housing market shows little signs of abating as estate agents say the number of agreed sales continues to fall, while interest from new buyers is lacklustre.
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors said its members were reporting that sales activity in Britain’s housing market remains subdued, dragged down by cooling confidence in London and the southeast.
The monthly report, which is based on the views of institution members across Britain, said estate agents and surveyors had reported falls in agreed sales for the 16th month in a row, with 7% more respondents reporting a drop rather than a rise over the month of June.
