The Queen’s lawyers lobbied the Scottish parliament to ensure that she was the only landowner exempt from a new green energy rule.
Amendments inserted into the the heat networks bill under the mechanism, known as Queen’s Consent, will mean that the Queen will not be required to use renewable fuel or to build underground pipes to heat buildings on her extensive Scottish landholdings.
Another amendment protects the Queen from CPOs, specifically preventing companies and public authorities from compelling the Queen to sell pieces of her land to enable the green energy pipelines to be built.
