A 23-year-old security guard Dean Smith, hired to evict anti-roadbuilding protesters, has switched sides.
He decided he did not like the government and wanted to become an eco-warrior instead.
He now plans to join protesters against the proposed £380m Birmingham Northern Relief Road running from Coleshill, Warwickshire, to Cannock, Staffordshire. It is designed to relieve congestion on the M6 north of Birmingham. It will be Britain’s first stretch of toll motorway.
