A South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) manager is one of the winners of The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment’s (CABE) national “Festive Fives” programme.
Miranda Pearce, Urban Renaissance Manager for SEEDA, has been recognised as a major contributor to championing good design throughout the South East region.
The programme recognises five public sector organisations, five private companies and five individual architectural patrons who have been consistent campaigners for the importance of good architecture and urban design during 2005.
Pearce leads on two major initiatives within the region, the South East Design Champions Club and South East Excellence, which provide learning networks and opportunities for built environment professionals, and engage with communities.
SEEDA’s Executive Director of Development and Infrastructure, Paul Hudson commented: “Since joining SEEDA, Miranda has been instrumental in developing new and innovative solutions for the renaissance of our towns and cities, with a particular focus on projects that champion quality design.”
CABE also detailed Miranda’s work with two regional Architecture Centres, established in Kent and the Solent, as key to her winning the award.
This is the second award that the Agency has received in the Festive Fives programme.
In 2001, SEEDA was given the Public Sector Organisation Award for its investment in an international design competition for housing at Chatham Maritime, and its support for the new Turner Centre at Margate.
The Agency’s work in urban masterplanning and its contribution to ensuring design quality in its projects was also acknowledged.
