SEGRO signs Rackspace for Slough Trading Estate

SEGRO has signed Rackspace Managed Hosting for a 50,000 sq ft data centre at its Slough Trading Estate.

Rackspace, which specialises in providing professional managed and intensive hosting solutions, has agreed a 20-year lease for the unit, which will accommodate 65,000sq ft of technical space via a mezzanine floor once fit-out has been completed.

Stephen Bailey, regional director of the Slough Trading Estate, said: “The required power supply for this specialist use, together with our Simplified Planning Zone status, award-winning security and IT and cable infrastructure, ensure that Slough Trading Estate is a leading location for business continuity.”

Rackspace has also shortlisted two buildings at Heathrow’s Stockley Park for a 20,000 sq ft office requirement.

Frontrunner is a sublease of Cisco’s space at Ropemaker’s No 4 The Square but the group is also considering the 50,000 sq ft 3 Furzeground Way.

GVA Grimley is advising Rackspace and Jones Lang LaSalle is acting for Cisco.

Elsewhere in the Thames Valley, Visa has completed its sublease of Land Securities Trillium’s 56,215 sq ft of space at Kennet Wharf on Queens Road in Reading town centre.

Visa, represented by Lee Barron, is understood to be paying £1m pa for the space over five years. Lambert Smith Hampton acted for LST.

And Research in Motion, the company behind the Blackberry mobile communication devise, represented by CB Richard Ellis, this week launched a 30 to 40,000 sq ft requirement focusing on Staines, Slough and Stockley Park.
