SEGRO welcomes Heathrow recommendation

SEGRO-sign-THUMB.jpegSEGRO has welcomed the recommendations of the Airports Commission that the construction of a third runway at Heathrow is the best way to ensure the UK maintains its status as an international hub for aviation.

The REIT actively lobbied for this option, taking a key role in the Let Britain Fly campaign to expand Heathrow.

SEGRO owns over 5m sq ft of industrial land around Heathrow and although the new extended runway will take up some of this land the company will benefit from the added business the new runway will bring.

David Sleath, chief executive of SEGRO, said: “The Airports Commission has come to the right decision, which will help UK businesses to expand into key emerging markets in Asia and South America.

“Government needs to bring an end to indecision and back Sir Howard’s recommendation and let Heathrow get on with building the new runway as quickly as possible.”
