One of the biggest self-build schemes in the UK since the government launched its Right-to-Build policy has been given the go-ahead as part of a new 450-unit residential development at Daventry in Northamptonshire.
Landform Estates will offer up to 24 serviced plots to individual home owners, with the option to buy fully custom-built and bespoke homes, at the Mickle Well Park housing project.
Erik Pagano, Landform’s managing director, said: “This is a pioneering project as it is one of the first multi-plot sites being developed in the country as part of a general housing scheme.
“Daventry district council has been bold in its approach towards self-build. Hopefully we will see other local authorities being equally imaginative in their decisions.”
Landform is also considering whether to include up to 100 self-build plots in its 350-unit housing project being pursued in Thornbury, south Gloucestershire.
