Seller’s pack trainer bought by National Energy Services

An energy efficiency company has bought the largest standard-setting body responsible for training people to implement the seller’s pack.

National Energy Services (NES) said that he acquisition of SAVA would enable it to invest more than £1m in equipment to train property professionals to become home inspectors before home information packs are made compulsory in England and Wales.

The packs are an integral part of the government’s Homes Bill, which was included in last week’s Queen’s Speech.

It is anticipated that more than 7,500 home inspectors could be required to produce home condition reports for all properties marketed in England and Wales from 2006.

Brian Scannell, managing director of NES, said: “The acquisition of SAVA is a natural extension of the work NES is already doing to provide a one-stop shop for residential property experts who wish to become home inspectors.”

Other organisations, including the Institute of Maintenance & Building Management, the RICS and large estate agents, are believed to be setting up their own accreditation systems.
