Seven unveils Brum resi square

Digbeth-Creative-Quarter

Birmingham-based investor Seven Capital has unveiled the first residential square to be built in Birmingham’s creative quarter.

The historic Harrison Drape building on a two-acre site on Bradford Street in Digbeth has been renamed Fabrick Square and will comprise 313 flats, as well as a 2,420 sq ft retail store, parking and landscaping.

Drawing on the building’s history as a former curtain factory, the existing 19th century building façade will be retained and four new buildings will be developed alongside known as The Cotton Lofts, Cotton House, The Drapery and Drapery House. The high-end apartments are expected to range from £99,000 to £149,000.

Phil Carlin, managing director, of Seven Capital, said: “Digbeth is an incredibly vibrant and creative part of the city. We are already seeing interest from those looking to benefit from the area’s growing creative reputation, amenities and close proximity to the proposed HS2 station at Curzon Street and city centre.”

The Harrison Drape building was home of curtain track maker Harrison Drape since the 19th century.

Carlin added: “There is a lot of local affection for this building and by reflecting its history as a curtain factory in the names of its individual buildings and the square itself – the first residential square in Digbeth.”

Work on the new Fabrick Square development is under way and is expected to complete by the end of next year.

Seven Capital and partner Colmore Tang are bringing forward more than 2,500 new homes across Birmingham in various schemes, including 500 flats at the Kettleworks in the Jewellery Quarter, and 271 apartments in One Hagley Road.
