Targets for building houses are being hit by delays in the country’s planning system, according to an investigation by The Times.
Since 2010, nearly a quarter of a million planning applications have not been processed on time. A third of major applications have been subject to delays in the last five years, while delays affecting minor applications have risen by 16%.
Gavin Sherman of developer Linea Homes noted under-resourcing at local authorities, and said his was not the only business to experience severe delays.
