Severn Trent plans 237acre business park and inward investment site near Wolverhampton

Severn Trent Water is planning a business park and inward investment site on 96 ha (237 acre) of brownfield land at Wolverhampton in the West Midlands.

The utility’s property arm has submitted an outline planning application fo B2 use on its own land, North of Wobaston Road in Pendeford. The site is located directly opposite Commercial Union’s 10.52 ha (26 acre) Pendeford Business Park of which only 1.61ha (4 acres) remains unoccupied.

Severn is understood to be looking at developing 55ha (136 acres) of its site as a business park and the remaining land would be allocated for a major inward investor.

Both potential uses have been identified in the recent reports by local authorities in the West Midlands, Major Investment Sites and Premium Employment Sites.

The latest application also includes the construction of an access route to the A449 which could open up further land for development in the region.

The planning authority South Staffordshire Council has asked Severn Trent’s agents Wood Frampton of Leamington Spa to supply an environmental impact assessment before proceeding with the application.
