Gifts retailer SF Cody has reacted to stories that it is up for sale by announcing an ambitious expansion programme.
Managing director Steve Cotter said that he is looking for 20 stores and concessions to add to the four stores and four concessions the firm has opened since 1998. Online expansion and a mail order service are also in the pipeline, and an international franchise programme is under consideration for 2002.
Cotter denied industry speculation that the chain had been up for sale for an estimated £12m, but admitted that the business had received external approaches.
