The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) is to investigate the departure of real estate partner Vinay Veneik from Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP).
Veneik, whose former clients are understood to include Morgan Stanley Real Estate Fund and Great Portland Estates, resigned from the City firm on 15 January.
Allegations were subsequently made that he had made errors on a number of transactions, including failing to pay stamp duties and failing to register transfers of property.
The SRA investigation will focus on Veneik’s conduct leading up to his departure.
A spokesperson for the SRA said “We are looking into the matter. An investigation is underway, but it will be many months before any developments would be disclosed.”
