Shaftesbury creates sustainability role

Shaftesbury has created a new head of sustainability role, appointing Matt Smith to the position.

Smith has more than eight years of experience in sustainability roles, most recently as interim head of sustainability at The Crown Estate.

Smith will report directly to chief executive Brian Bickell, with the remit to make sure the business continues to develop and implement its long-term sustainability strategy and an extensive community engagement programme.

Bickell said: “His extensive experience will be extremely valuable to us as we continue to address all aspects of sustainability across our business. We are committed to operating in an environmentally sustainable way and minimising the environmental impact of both our operations, and those of our occupiers.”
