Shaftesbury weighs shifting its Carnaby HQ

Shaftesbury is considering moving its head office in Carnaby.

The FTSE 250 REIT, a chunk of whose West End portfolio is on and around Carnaby Street, is in the early stages of considering a move from 22 Ganton Street, W1. No decision has been made on whether a move will take place, and the company may yet opt to remain at its current premises.

If the company does move, it is likely to remain in the Carnaby area in a space that would allow it to bring its more than 50 team members onto one floor rather than have them spread across two at Ganton Street.

The REIT has been based in Ganton Street since 2014, following a refurbishment that completed that year.

In a trading update in February, Shaftesbury said office workers were returning to the West End and that some 17,000 sq ft of office space at its mixed-use 72 Broadwick Street was under offer.

Last week. the company said it would bring forward the redevelopment of two of its Carnaby sites – on Carnaby Street and Kingly Street – to create an extra 27,000 sq ft of office space. Both are expected to complete next year.
