The Shard has been awarded a Wired Platinum certification by connectivity rating company WiredScore.
The Wired certification, of which platinum is the highest accolade, acts as a benchmark for internet in buildings.
The 920,000 sq ft skyscraper is home to 29 occupiers and signed three tech occupiers this year: online retailer Matchesfashion.com; digital marketing agency Jellyfish; and digital media and print publisher Dods.
The Shard secured its rating by providing a wide variety of high-speed internet services and robust emergency back-up to protect against service disruption.
The building offers internet speeds of up to 100Gbps depending on the occupier’s requirements.
WiredScore UK director William Newton said: “The Shard is an iconic building, serving a vast community of international businesses, and deserves the world-class connectivity standards to match. This accreditation sends a signal to entrepreneurs and ambitious businesses that The Shard is a fully optimised building, future-proofed for success and innovation.”
