Shopping centre tycoon Xiu Li and her husband, Tony Hawken, a former maths teacher, are getting divorced.
Hawken says he is sick of being rich, preferring to buy books from charity shops and lunching at the local Wetherspoon pub. His wife features in The Sunday Times Rich List thanks to her expanding empire of shopping centres built in former air-raid shelters across China. Her wealth is estimated at £1.1bn. The couple of have a £1.5m house in Surrey. Hawken is walking away with less than £1m which he says is enough for him.
