Britain’s retailers got a early May bank holiday boost with footfall up by 12.9% on the previous weekend, according to new research from MRO Springboard.
Footfall across all retail destinations in the UK rose by 3.8% last week, compared with the prior seven days. This was an increase of 4.8% against the same week in 2022.
Shopping centres recorded the biggest week-on-week rise, up by 5.3%. Footfall in UK high streets and retail parks grew by 3.5% and 3% respectively.
Footfall is expected to fall over the coronation weekend, however, with MRI Springboard anticipating an 8% fall across all UK retail destinations.
