Siemens has re-entered the race to run London Underground’s sub-surface lines franchise.
Its earlier bid as part of a consortium, collapsed last month. The other four bidders are Linc, Tube Lines Group, MetroNet, and TubeRail. Railtrack confirmed it would not enter the contest. SNCF of France is thought to be bidding for the £3.2bn contract to run part of London Underground, according to The Guardian.
Railtrack has failed to meet a government deadline for presenting proposals to join the Underground to the main rail routes.
