Silverstone drives new development to safeguard Formula One

 


Silverstone has submitted plans for more than 3m sq ft of developments to transform the racing circuit and safeguard its future as home of the British Grand Prix.


Silverstone Holdings intends to develop a 1.3m sq ft business park, a 674,488 sq ft technology park, a 373,055 sq ft education campus, three hotels and new retail, spectator and leisure facilities within the Northamptonshire racing circuit.


The new buildings would total more than 3m sq ft across Silverstone’s 760-acre estate.


Richard Phillips, managing director of Silverstone Holdings, said: “Approval of this planning application will help maintain Silverstone’s position as a leading global centre for sport, leisure, education and technology, and support its vision of becoming a world-leading motor sport destination.”


The application has been submitted to Aylesbury Vale council and South Northamptonshire council.


Phillips added: “This is the most important initiative Silverstone has taken in its 60-year history.”
