Silvertown to shine in Newham

Silvertown-THUMB.gifA First Base-led consortium has received planning permission from Newham council for the Silvertown development, a 62-acre Royal Docks site in Newham, east London.

The consortium, which includes Chelsfield and Macquarie, will deliver 2m sq ft of office space, 3m sq ft of retail and leisure space and 3,000 homes on a range of tenures.

The first phase of the £3.5bn project is expected to complete by 2018 and will deliver 450,000 sq ft of office space at the Millennium Mills site, which has been unlocked by £12m grant from DCLG.

The mayor of Newham, Sir Robin Wales, said: “This multi-billion pound transformation is a fantastic opportunity to reinvigorate the Royal Docks area, giving it a new lease of life benefiting Newham and the capital as a whole.”
