America’s largest shopping centre owner has struck a deal with Amazon to turn abandoned department stores into online warehouses.
Simon Property Group is understood to have held discussions over sites previously held by Sears and JC Penney.
It is not clear how many sites are being considered and the discussions have not yet led to an agreement, but the two companies are said to have been speaking for several months after starting talks before the coronavirus pandemic.
There is no certainty that a deal will be reached.
