Sir Albert Bore, former leader of Birmingham council, has joined Colliers CRE’s Birmingham office as a non-executive director.
Commenting on his new appointment, Bore said: “In my new role I will be a roving ambassador for Colliers CRE’s Birmingham team, with a focus on building new client relationships.”
Bore will still be based at the council’s Victoria Square offices, where he remains a councillor and leader of the Labour Group.
He also holds company directorships with Aston Science Park, the National Exhibition Centre and Marketing Birmingham.
Bore was first elected to Birmingham council in 1980 and played a major role in the regeneration of the city over the next twenty years.
From 1984 to 1993 he chaired Birmingham’s Economic Development Committee, and in 1994 he became a member of the European Union’s Committee of the Regions, where he was President from 2002-2004.
Labour councillor Bore was leader of Birmingham council from 1999 to 2004, when conservative councillor Mike Whitby took the title after an alliance between the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives won control of the council.
He was knighted in 2002 for his services to local government.
