Birmingham city council leader Sir Albert Bore has announced that he is stepping down as leader of Birmingham city council.
In the past week, two members of his Labour cabinet have left, and others have threatened to leave.
The move came after the cabinet met three times in 24 hours to discuss the difficulties surrounding the leadership of the city.
He said he made the decision to offer stability amid mounting pressure on his position as leader.
The process of electing a new leader will begin in the next few days.
