Sir Tom Farmer makes major donation to SNP

Kwik-Fit founder turned property tycoon Sir Tom Farmer has donated £100,000 to the Scottish National Party.

Sir Tom, 66, who has around £850m-worth of developments in the pipeline, will give the nationalist party the money to help them fight next year’s Scottish elections.

SNP leader Alex Salmond visited Sir Tom last month to make a presentation on the party’s economic strategy.

Farmer, who is the chief benefactor of Hibernian Football Club, has not previously been linked to a political party.
