The rubble from the demolition of Britain’s wonkiest pub will not be removed following a sit-in protest by locals.
South Staffordshire Council’s planning authority said it will closely monitor work at the Crooked House pub in Himley, after securing an agreement with its owners that bricks and foundations will be kept at the site.
The site was guarded overnight by members of the Black Country Paranormal Society, to deter any further destruction of the site and watch for ghosts.
The burnt-out shell of the landmark pub, famed for its wonky walls and floors due to mining-related subsidence, was demolished within 48 hours of a suspected arson attack on 5 August.
