A skills shortage will be exacerbated if builders from EU countries are not allowed to remain in the UK.
Describing the skills crisis as the worst in nearly 20 years, the president of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Amanda Clack, said that if access to a skilled workforce was further restricted, there was real concern the country could stop building.
The institution joined others in writing to Brexit secretary David Davis over the safeguarding of construction projects from a shortage of labour.
