The design of skyscrapers could be dramatically transformed by a magnet-powered, cable-free lift that can move horizontally as well as vertically.
ThyssenKrupp, the German steel and technology conglomerate hailed the designs as ‘the holy grail of the elevator industry’.
It is anticipated that the new technology will remove the limits on high-rise buildings, including height itself.
