Skype connects at Waterhouse Square

Internet phone service Skype has confirmed a deal to take 89,000 sq ft in Prupim’s 2 Waterhouse Square, EC1.

The Microsoft-owned company will join PR firm Weber Shandwick, which has signed for 64,000 sq ft across the first and second floors of the building.

CBRE and DTZ advised on both deals.

A complete refurbishment of the 183,000 sq ft Gothic Midtown landmark was completed earlier this year.

Rents for the remaining 19,500 sq ft are quoted at £39.50 per sq ft.

Giles Difford, PRUPIM commercial asset management director, said: “London’s Midtown market, bordering both the City and West End, is thriving as businesses from the technology and media industries compete for space with financial and professional services businesses.

“This has led to considerable interest in our property at 2 Waterhouse Square and leading TMT companies such as Skype are indicative of the calibre of companies that it has attracted. We are confident that it will be fully let to a diverse mix of tenants in the coming months.”
