Slater & Gordon confirms Manchester move

International law firm Slater & Gordon has confirmed it is to take 105,000 sq ft at 58 Mosley Street in Manchester, as revealed by Estates Gazette in April .

The new flagship office, owned by the Bank of Ireland, will house more than 700 staff in the largest Manchester letting since 2001.

The facility will be Slater & Gordon’s largest office worldwide, and the largest legal office in Manchester.

Slater & Gordon will take the space on a 10-15 year lease at £22.50 per sq ft., from early 2015.

The Australian legal giant has bought Manchester-based Pannone, Russell Jones & Walker and Fentons Solicitors over the past two years.

Slater & Gordon has ambitions to become a major player in the UK consumer legal services market.

It plans to move all its staff into the new office – formerly the home of failed law firm Cobbetts, which was rescued from administration in a pre-pack by DWF in 2012.

Slater & Gordon head of UK Neil Kinsella said: “We want to be able to provide a first-class office environment for our clients and staff in Manchester.”

“Our staff have been based at several different sites in the city for a number of months and everyone is excited that we now have a schedule for when we will all be working out of one Manchester office. It was always central to our integration plans to bring the teams at Pannone and Fentons together, along with our pre-existing Manchester staff. Mosley Street provides us with an excellent central location to achieve that goal, and 105,000 sq ft provides us with capacity for future growth.”

Refurbishment of the seven-storey building will now commence.
