Smith & Nephew sells former London HQ for £15m

Smith & Nephew (S&N) has sold Astor House, its former London headquarters, for £15m to charitable fund the Bulldog Trust. Located at 2 Temple Place, WC2, it has been the healthcare group’s HQ since 1962.

Astor House was built in 1895 by American millionaire and politician William Waldorf Astor. The first two floors will be let for commercial purposes while the top floor will be hired out to charity organisations.

S&N has already moved into modern offices nearby. The £15m raised by the sale will be used to boost the £500m war chest Smith & Nephew has built up for possible acquisitions.
