Social and charity: Brent Cross fund helps residents

Argent Related and partner Barnet Council have awarded funding to 10 local initiatives as part of their £35,000 Brent Cross Town Community Fund.

Now in its third year, the community fund is delivered by independent organisation Semble. It offers grants of up to £5,000 to projects that celebrate and support communities in the north London area.

Projects that received funding this year include the Cricklewood Millennium Green public space; Kisharon School, which helps disabled adults gain horticultural skills and training; the FUSE Youth Project; and the delivery of basketball sessions to women and schoolchildren by Brent Bulls CIC (pictured).

Since it was established, the fund has benefited 9,200 residents.

Construction group gives the gift of life

Barnfield Construction has helped safeguard the community by donating life-saving equipment to Lancashire’s Colne Cricket Club.

Jonathan Nixon, an estimator at the Pendle-based firm and acting vice-chairman at the cricket club, donated the defibrillator on behalf of the Barnfield Group.

The machine can increase the survival rate of someone that suffers a cardiac arrest by up to 80%.
