As LandAid’s Steptober challenge enters its fourth and final week, all participants have stepped up to the challenge.
More than 575 real estate professionals have joined the countrywide step challenge to help support LandAid’s mission to end youth homelessness.
Those taking part in the challenge have now taken some 130m steps – more than enough to walk around the world twice.
Leading the pack is Alter Domus’s team AD Coast Busters, closely followed by Leach Rhodes Walker’s team and teams from M7 Real Estate.
To help supplement step counts and offer networking opportunities with other property professionals, LandAid has been hosting Wednesday Walks throughout the challenge.
Last week’s walk saw team members from Coyote Software, Grainger and M7 Real Estate complete a circular route around the Jubilee Walkway, taking in the sights while learning facts about the city.
Previously, the weekly walks have had steppers trekking from Piccadilly Circus, W1, to Clapham Common, SW4, strolling over Chelsea Bridge and through Battersea Park, SW11, and striding through the three Royal Parks in London.
With just one week left, there is everything left to step for. Follow @LandAid on social media for updates.
Book offers insight into regeneration of cities
Two Birmingham City Council employees have celebrated the launch of their book, Regenerating Cities, at the London offices of U&I.
Planning and regeneration lead Waheed Nazir and assistant director of planning Richard Cowell co-edited the book, which provides a unique insight into the regeneration of UK cities. All royalties from the sale will be donated to Birmingham City Council’s Bursary Scholarship programme.
Dipping a toe in the water for charity
Lee Baron’s chief operating officer Ian Jones (pictured) has set about completing a 22-mile swim as part of Macmillan’s Swim It challenge. He will swim one mile a day for 22 days to hit his £20,000 fundraising target for Macmillan Cancer Support. He is completing the challenge in memory of colleagues Ian McAllister and Jonathan Rosenthal, who recently died from cancer.
Cyclists take on golden route
Bidwells’ Golden Triangle Bike Ride has recorded its best year to date.
The 180km route from Oxford to Cambridge was completed by 300 riders and raised more than £45,600 for cancer charity Maggie’s.
Golf day above par
East Midlands businesses have raised £2,500 at CAPS charity golf day, held at Stapleford Park, Leicestershire. Organised by Gleeds Global and Fraser Brown Solicitors, the event was won by engineering consultancy Curtins. All money raised was donated to Autism East Midlands and Newlife, a charity for disabled children.
