Soho Housing Association has appointed Andrew Billany as chair of the board.
The move comes as the organisation concentrates on “getting back to the basics” after the pandemic. Soho Housing plans to reinvigorate its relationship with its residents through regular estate inspections and home visits, as well as expand its investment programmes.
Billany will join chief executive Barbara Brownlee on its next phase of development, with plans to create at least 30 new homes in the next five years and increase in-person interactions across the communities in the capital city.
Prior to Soho Housing, Billany worked in the housing, local authority and voluntary sectors for more than 20 years, including as managing director at Homes for Haringey, director of Housing at Newham Council, director of home ownership at Guinness Partnership and chief executive of Hornsey Housing Trust. He is currently corporate director of housing and community safety at Dorset Council and a trustee of Nacro, the social justice charity.
Brownlee said: “Andrew is joining at a crucial time for us, with the cost of living continuing to rise, our role as an affordable housing provider in the city is more vital than ever before.”
